Come spend an enlightening night exploring the intersection of public education and democracy with best-selling author, Derek Black.

This in-person event brings the community together to explore the critical challenges facing our public schools and how we can take meaningful action. Enjoy an inspiring evening of learning, discussion, and fundraising to support strong, equitable public education for all.

Derek Black is a professor of law and the Ernest F. Hollings Chair in Constitutional Law at the University of South Carolina School of Law. He also directs the law school’s Constitutional Law Center. His areas of expertise include education law and policy, constitutional law, and civil rights. The focus of his current scholarship is the intersection of constitutional law and public education, particularly as it pertains to educational equality and fairness for disadvantaged students. For more bio…

Two of Mr. Black’s books specifically address the intersection of democracy, public policy, and public education: “Dangerous Learning: The South’s Long War on Black Literacy” and “Schoolhouse Burning: Public Education and the Assault on American Democracy.” A limited number of both books will be available for purchase on-site for signing. All proceeds and donations from the evening will go toward supporting Anderson County Democratic candidates.

Purchase tickets at: https://ACDWC-10172025.eventbrite.com or at the door.
